From the document: "Artificial intelligence holds promise for streamlining the Defense Department’s plodding acquisitions process, but without information accessibility across services and agencies, the technology will fall short of its potential, industry experts said recently.
“The real hurdle to ingesting AI into the department is data sharing,” said Scott Stapp, chief technology officer and chief revenue officer at DEFCON AI.
“If, right now, any of the services were to really use AI to do requirements for a major system, what you would get is a suboptimized system,” he said in a panel discussion during a recent webinar hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association’s Emerging Technologies Institute and MITRE. “You would get a fighter aircraft that acted as its own asset [and] didn’t leverage anything across the joint community.”"
