Ten years of armed conflict have been marked with multiple combat deployments, shortened time between deployments, warriors returning with combat injuries that would have been fatal in earlier wars, and the National Guard and reserve playing a major role in the war effort. These and other factors have placed enormous stress on service members and their families.”
